The Investment Promotion in Agribusiness has prepared a Ghana bench marking report, as part of the Investment Promotion and Business Linkages Project.

The report gives a detailed assessment of Ghana relative to five competing locations for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI):

  • Côte d’Ivoire
  • Nigeria
  • Egypt
  • Morocco
  • South Africa

These locations are consistently among the top 10 locations in Africa for FDI across all sectors and for agri-related FDI.

The report provides wide-ranging evidence of Ghana’s relative position as an investment location.  It gives information for 66 indicators against 34 criteria that businesses typically consider as part of the location assessment process, which relate to:

  • Perceived position
  • Market performance
  • Connectivity
  • Business environment
  • Labor force and education
  • Operating infrastructure
  • Property
  • Taxation
  • Environment and quality of life

The findings can help provide evidence-based messaging for promotion purposes.  More importantly, the findings also provide evidence to identify areas for advocacy and improvement in Ghana’s location “offer”.
